How to send a crash report

First of all I'm sorry that you've experienced a problem with MeetingGold, they are very rare but none-the-less unacceptable. I can get the problem sorted out quickly with your help. All you'll need to do is send me the crash log - just follow the steps below.

When any app crashes on the iPad a crash log is created and held on the iPad until you synchronise with iTunes. When you synchronise with iTunes the crash log is copied onto your computer. When the crash log is on your computer you can attach it to an email and send it to the developer who can read the crash log and hopefully be pointed in the right direction to solve the problem.

Overview of steps to send me a crash log

 

  1. Plug your iPad into your computer and synchronise it with iTunes.
  2. Find the crash logs on your computer.
  3. Attach the files to an email and send to bill@meetinggold.co.uk

 

 

Detail for each step

1. Plug in your iPad to your computer and synchronise it with iTunes.

a) Plug in your iPad to your computer that has iTunes running on it.

b) iTunes will either synchronise automatically (if that is the way you have it set up) or you'll need to press the Sync button - to do that click on your iPad on the left and then on the sync button at the bottm right as shown below:

 

Now wait until the sync is complete.

 

2. Find the files on your computer

This depends on what type of computer you are using.

a) First find the folder where the crash logs are stored as below:

Mac OS X: use Finder to go to the following folder:

~/Library/Logs/CrashReporter/MobileDevice/[DEVICE_NAME]

where [DEVICE_NAME] is replaced the the name of your iPad as it appears on the left in iTunes.

 

Windows XP: use Windows Explorer to go to the following folder:

 C:\Documents and Settings\[USERNAME]\Application Data\Apple Computer\Logs\CrashReporter\MobileDevice\[DEVICE_NAME]

Where [USERNAME] is your username that you use to login on the computer and [DEVICE_NAME] is replaced the the name of your iPad as it appears on the left in iTunes.

 

Windows Vista or 7: use Windows Explorer to go to the following folder:

C:\Users\[USERNAME]\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\Logs\CrashReporter\MobileDevice\[DEVICE_NAME]

Where [USERNAME] is your username that you use to login on the computer and [DEVICE_NAME] is replaced the the name of your iPad as it appears on the left in iTunes.

 

b) Now find the crash log(s) for MeetingGold. 

In the folder you opened in step 2a above you should see some files that end in .crash Typically they will look something like MeetingGold_[date]_[device_name].crash.

 

3. Attach the crash logs to an email

Copy the .crash files and attach them to an email and send to bill@meetinggold.co.uk.
